A bourbon journey into the dark hours

A brooding, spirit-forward cocktail that balances rich bourbon against the herbal depth of dark amaro and the mysterious golden sweetness of Strega. Named for the hours it's best enjoyed — when the city sleeps.

Rocks glass, single large ice cube

Ingredients

  • 1¾ ozBourbon
  • ¾ ozDark amaro (Averna or Ramazzotti)
  • ¼ ozStrega
  • 2 dashesPeychaud's Bitters

Method

  1. 1.Add bourbon, amaro, Strega, and bitters to a mixing glass
  2. 2.Fill with ice and stir until well chilled, about 20-25 seconds
  3. 3.Strain into a rocks glass over a single large ice cube
  4. 4.Express orange peel over the glass and use as garnish
